Matt joined Converse University in August 2021 as Director of Admissions. He began his career in admissions at the University of South Carolina Upstate in 2008 as a first-year student admissions counselor. From 2012 to 2021, he held several progressive roles as he advanced to Associate Director of Admissions at the University of South Carolina Beaufort.
Matt is involved in several professional activities related to higher education enrollment. He is currently the Vice President of Communication for the Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, and was previously President of the Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. He serves on the National Beta Club’s Scholarship Review Committee, and is active in the Southern Association of College Admissions Counseling.
A Spartanburg native, he stays active in the community. He has served on several non-profit boards including the Hub City Hog Fest (a charity barbecue festival benefitting Mobile Meals of Spartanburg), Keep OneSpartanburg Beautiful, USC Upstate Foundation, USC Upstate Alumni Association, and Spartanburg Young Professionals.
Cooking is another passion for Matt – smoking barbecue, baking, and candy-making are among his favorite ways to unwind. He is on track to finish last place in his fantasy NASCAR and two fantasy football leagues, a distinction he hopes to improve upon next year.
We are thrilled that you are excited about the Hub City Hog Fest, a barbecue contest to benefit Mobile Meals of Spartanburg, S.C. All proceeds from this event benefit Mobile Meals.
Since the the Hub City Hog Fest first started filling Downtown Spartanburg with the sweet, smoky smell of barbecue in 2013, it has raised more than $400,000 for Mobile Meals, and we hope to continue for many years to come. Please come out and not only have a lot of fun, but join with us in supporting this great organization and helping our community!
